To shy to like rock music?

Well I'm a 13 year old girl and I love pop music but I've been getting into rock music but I'm worry my mates are going to laugh becuase its rock(to them rock music is emo and boring) its not heavy metal just like classic/mod/ska and new rock and alternative. I've got lots on my ipod but I have to lie and say its for my dad. Some of it is but some is for me ! Help
